Welcome to the Best Cafe
Traditional breakfast with a bold taste! Handcrafted cocktails served in a vintage atmosphere.
Established in 1933, the Best Cafe had offered decades of excellent dining service until its closing in the 1960s. Since then, the Best Cafe and Best Court Motel has been stunningly restored into the upscale boutique property you see today.
We are proud to continue the tradition of offering exemplary service and food to Hot Springs National Park visitors and locals alike. Proprietor/Executive Chef Joshua Garland has a created a chef-driven menu that changes seasonally. Preparing the majority of food served in-house, we are delighted to offer quality ingredients and wonderful flavor profiles to all of our amazing guests.

Joshua Garland
Proprietor/Executive Chef
Joshua’s influences are southern comfort food, but his techniques are French, which he learned during his time at Le Cordon Bleu of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas.
Throughout his career, Joshua has created extravagant dishes for various fine dining and upscale venues. They include Sun Valley Ski Resort in Idaho, One Eleven – Capitol Hotel in Arkansas, The Windsor Club in Florida, and Edgartown Yacht Club in Massachusetts. Joshua helped open Sparrow & Wolf, Las Vegas.
It was there that he learned to fuse old world cooking with new world cooking, a technique he now calls his “creative secret.” Joshua is now the proud owner and Executive Chef at the local favorite, Best Cafe.
“What’s better than the best?”
Fatima Alvirde
Director of Operations
Raised in Florida, Fatima is a 1st generation American, with her parents immigrating from Mexico to work in the exploding Citrus Industry found in Indian River County. She began her career in hospitality at Windsor Club, Vero Beach, Florida. There, she served high clientele from the US and other nations.
After some time, Fatima ventured north to the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts to continue her path within restaurants. During her time on the island, she honed in on her dedication to customer service while maintaining the demand for fast paced summer seasons.
Following her time in Massachusetts, Fatima felt the need to settle down in a place where she could put her learned skills to great use. The opportunity to move to Arkansas and open/manage Best Cafe & Bar in Hot Springs, AR appeared, and she is excited to continue the success of the cafe and future projects!
“Service is black and white; Hospitality is color.”
